St. Mary the Virgin, Depden is one of the six Church of England parishes in the Suffolk Heights benefice, along with Chedburgh, Chevington, Rede, Hawkeden and Hargrave.
The church is set apart from the village and is approached on foot with no vehicular access. The building contains Norman and medieval fabric and was restored after being severely damaged in a fire in 1984. A description of the church is on the Suffolk churches website (www.suffolkchurches.co.uk) and details of the architecture of the Norman era south doorway are included in The Corpus of Romanesque Sculpture in Britain and Ireland.
Services are held at 11am on the third Sunday of every month.
To reach the Church from the A143, take the turn to Depden Green and immediately turn left. Take the footpath by the first bungalow and walk for about 0.5 mile. The church is kept locked so please contact teh churchwardens to obtain a key.
