Depden is a small rural Suffolk community. Most of the houses in the village surround Depden Green which is one of the largest in the country at 18 hectares (44 acres). The remaining houses are widely dispersed. There is no pub, school or shop - and since 2009 not even a telephone box. Apart from the parish church, the village amenities consist of a post box (daily collections at 4.15), a bus shelter and a notice board. There are several local businesses including a nursery (Paugers Plants) and an antiques centre (Coblands Farm Antiques). The most noticeable landmarks are the white concrete water tower at the junction with the Wickhambrook road and the communications mast behind Elms Farm at the other side of the village.
The highest point in Suffolk is in Depden at 128m above sea level and is on the track just beyond Elms Farm, close to the mast. The land north east of Elms Farm was used as the runways for RAF Chedburgh during World War 2.
